EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 17, 2014
Unusually severe winter weather has caused Indiana’s public schools to cancel a number of student instructional days. Because of the extraordinary situation, the Department of Education has adopted guidelines to take effect immediately and expire June 30, 2014.
DeKalb County Eastern has currently lost 10 days due to inclement weather. The Indiana Department of Education has granted a waiver for two days meaning we will end this year with 178 student days rather than the normal 180. Of the eight remaining days, we will make-up five during the first week of Spring Break, March 17 -21. Extending the current school day using the following schedule will make up the other three days.
If your child rides a high school bus, the bus will arrive about 15 minutes early. The high school return bus will arrive about 25 minutes later. Elementary bus riders will see their bus arrive in the morning at the same time and will be about 30 minutes later in the afternoon. If there is a two-hour delay, simply add 120 minutes to the new schedule to determine when your bus will arrive.
The activity bus will run at 6:30 p.m. for junior and senior high students.
This schedule will remain in effect until further notice. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and we will not have to close school anymore this year. This schedule will go into effect FEBRUARY 17, 2014, and will remain our school schedule until further notice.
