Larry Yoder

Principal, Eastside Jr/Sr High School

My post-high school education began in 1985 at Concordia Lutheran College in Mequon, Wisconsin in the electrical engineering program.  I transferred to Indiana University Purdue University in Fort Wayne in 1986 and began pursuing a degree in mathematics.  I received my bachelor’s degree in mathematics with a certification to teach mathematics in 1989.

I began my career in education as a high school mathematics teacher at Woodlan Jr./Sr. High School in 1989.  My experiences there included 12 years as a high school mathematics instructor, 8 years of coaching high school baseball, 8 years as the junior class representative, and numerous other committee and leadership responsibilities.

After receiving my master’s degree in secondary school administration and supervision in 2001, I was employed as an administrator at Churubusco High School, where I served as the assistant principal for one semester.  At the conclusion of that semester the opportunity to serve the community of Dekalb County Eastern CSD presented itself.  In 2002, I began my career at Eastside Jr./Sr. High School as an assistant principal.  I transitioned to the principal’s position in 2006 and continue to serve in that capacity as an instructional leader for the district.

I also currently serve on the Indiana Association of Secondary School Principal’s legislative committee for District III, serve as a co-chair on external review teams for the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement, and am a member of the DeKalb County Safe School’s Commission.
