Who are you?
Deputy Rick Short and K9 Raven

When did you start at DKE?
I started working as a School Resource Officer ( SRO ) part time in 2016. I became full time in 2017 and was assigned to DeKalb Eastern School Dist.

What do you do or what does your typical day look like?
Indiana School Resource Officers work off what we call the Triad. Triad consists of three parts: Law Enforcement Officer, Teacher and Counselor/Mentor

What is your “Why” behind the job?
I enjoy interacting with the students and building relationships.

What is one thing you like best about EHS/DKE?
I would say first and foremost the family atmosphere, Everyone brings something to the table to compliment each other to work as a well oiled machine.

What is one encouraging bit of advice for someone wanting to become an SRO or Law Enforcement?
There is nothing more gratifying than having the ability to help influence or mentor our youth.
